Welcome to the Machinima Expo 2009
We welcome you to the Machinima Expo 2009. We have 6+ hours of panels and presentations, plus 7+ hours of machinima for you to watch. Remember the screening rooms and the screening theatre will be running 24/7 this weekend and all through next week. Phil has busted his butt to get a film by film schedule for you. Just look for a billboard in front of each screening area. And please, explore the island. We’ve worked hard to provide a fun environment for you to play in. We have designed the island to be experienced at night, so if it isn’t dark when you arrive go to the top of your Second life screen and choose “World”, then follow the drop down menu to “Environment” and choose “Midnight”. The environment will automatically change for you to midnight.
If you need help look for the main help booth or someone with a red Expo Staff t-shirt. Plus, don’t be afraid to ask anyone attending for help as well.

It’d be so much more accessible without requiring Second Life… I know it’s s’posed to be in the spirit of machinima, but it’d be so much easier if you simulcast on a Kyte channel!
Having come from this event, I must admit it was wonderful. One part of me, wished for the more linear time frame of last year, there was so much to listen to this year and the decisions of what to participate in or not was almost too great. I suppose that the audio and video will fill in the gaps. But what I am most grateful for is the community in whole. This certainly is a rich grouping of people. I look forward to the quality this community will ave to offer in the future.

Great work folks. So much planning and work and it really paid off. Great experience. Second Life is a great way to get everyone together for such an event and easily the best available option when it’s planned out as well as this event. The whole shebang got me thinking about the shared vision of machinima and animation across platforms and made me take note of a lot of new films and filmmakers. Can’t wait for next year.
To everyone involved in making this event a “reality” – well done; you did an amazing job! I’m having fun seeing all the photos that everyone took (why didn’t I think of that?!!!)
